Annual Events

VCRS participates in a number of recycling events throughout the year, including a major effort during the Alaska State Fair held at the Palmer Fairgrounds, the Spring Home Show held by the Mat-Su Homebuilders Association, a special Earth Day celebration, as well as events on both American Recycles Day and Mat-Su Recycles Day. To help at any one of these events, just volunteer!

Alaska State Fair 10 days ----- August to September
VCRS, with the help of volunteers, hosts an educational booth each year at the Alaska State Fair in Palmer and recycles the corrugated cardboard, aluminum and plastic beverage containers, and mixed paper produced during this week-long local event -volunteers always needed!
 

Mat Su Home Show 3 days ----- Late March or Early April
VCRS, with the help of volunteers, hosts an educational booth each year at the Mat-Su Home Show in the Mat-Su Borough and recycles the corrugated cardboard, aluminum and plastic beverage containers, and mixed paper produced during this event -volunteers always needed!
 

Mat Su Miners --- all summer long!
VCRS is proud to work with the Mat-Su Miners to recycle during the games at home in the Hermon Brothers Field at the Alaska State Fairgrounds in Palmer. During the games, VCRS volunteers help recycle the plastic and aluminum beverage containers consumed during the games - volunteers always needed!
 

Friday Flings - all summer long!
VCRS, with the help of volunteers, recycles the aluminum and plastic beverage containers at the Friday Flings during the summer months in Palmer, including the BP community picnic held in June - volunteers always needed!

 

 

 

Lion's Club Gun Show - Each Spring
Each spring VCRS, with the help of volunteers, recycles the aluminum and plastic beverage containers at the annual Lions Gun Show held at the Alaska State Fairgrounds in Palmer - volunteers always needed!

 

 

City of Palmer - Annual Spring Clean Up
VCRS, with the help of volunteers, assists with the recycling of aluminum and plastic beverage containers gathered during clean up of litter from within the City of Palmer - volunteers always needed!

Earth Day ----- April 22nd
VCRS holds a "fun"draising event on Earth Day to celebrate and raise money for our programs.
 

America Recycles Day ----- November 15th
VCRS celebrates this day by promoting the benefits of recycling.

 

 

 

 

Mat Su Recycles Day ----- Winter Solstice (December 21st)
VCRS's special day to commemorate one of our founders, Teslin Phillips, and celebrate light, hope and recycling.
