METALS

Types of Materials Accepted
*Please separate into these categories for quicker drop-off

 How to Sort and Clean Material

Aluminum Cans Empty cans of contents.  Be careful not to mix with steel cans!

 

 

*If unsure, use a magnet.  It sticks to steel, but not to aluminum

Aluminum Foil & Pie Plates Do not mix with aluminum cans!

Steel Cans
Cans used for soup, dog food, vegetables, etc.

 Rinse thoroughly.  No spray cans of any kind.  Be careful not to mix with aluminum cans!

PLASTICS

Plastic Bottles (PETE#1)
Used for soda, juice, water bottles, etc.

 Look for PETE#1 designator on bottom of container.  Rinse & drain bottles. 

 

*No tubs or trays.  Please discard lids!

Plastic Jugs (HDPE#2)
Used for milk, windshield cleaner, cat litter, liquid laundry detergent, etc.

 Look for HDPE#2 on bottom of container.  Rinse and drain jugs. 

 

Please discard lids!

ODD Shaped Plastics
(#1 thru #7)
Used for sour cream, yogurt, strawberries, cookies, soda fountain cups, pill bottles, dips, sushi, salad bar, iced lattes, cookie trays, etc.

 

 

 MUST have recycling symbol with 1 thru 7 on it. NO STYROFOAM.

Stretchable Plastic
Any stretchable plastic, including bags used for groceries, produce, bread, frozen vegetables, and visqueen

 Clean, stretchable plastic

PAPER

Office Paper
Computer, white, colored, fax, legal pad, phone message pad, true manila file folders & envelopes, post-it notes, glossy card stock, white envelopes, junk mail, index cards, and bagged shredded

 No copy paper wrapping, hanging file folders, blueprints or mustard colored envelopes.  Discard “non paper” inserts from junk mail.  Staples OK

NO ASTRO BRITE

Mixed Paper
Magazines & catalogs, phone books, wrapping paper, file folders, paperback books, non-manila folders & envelopes, white paper bags, construction paper, yellow craft envelopes, all types of paperboard and poster board

 No carbon paper, blueprints, paper cups or plates, wet strength paper, waxed paper, napkins, tissue paper or paper towels, aseptic packages (drink boxes), or hard backed books

Newspapers
(Paper inserts OK)

 No plastic inserts or plastic sleeves.  Please do not wrap with twine of tape

Egg Cartons Clean paperboard of plastic cartons OK for reuse.  Flats and torn cartons go in with ‘Mixed Paper’

Corrugated Cardboard & Brown Paper Bags No greasy pizza boxes, no ‘waxed’ boxes

MISCELLANEOUS

Packing Peanuts No contaminated material or rigid styrofoam

Ink Jet Cartridges Cartridges with a copper strip are accepted 
*No toner bottles

Eye Glasses Prescription & reading glasses.  No broken or scratched glasses
